XP habe ich auch schon ausprobiert; aber nach 2 Wochen wurde er immer langsamer insb. durch den Virenscanner ohne den es ja nicht geht. Nervig sind auch die ständigen updates von Windows, die beim eeepc besonders auffallen. Na ja und die Platte ist wirklich schnell voll. Trotz 8 GB Zusatzkarte und 2 GB RAM (damit kann man die Auslagerungsdatei ausschalten, was eine Weile Performance und Speicherplatz bringt).- Unter XP konnte ich mit externen DVD-Player DVD’s anschauen. Unter Linux – trotz Kodek-Nachinstallation liefen die Hauptfilme nicht, nur die kürzeren Filmevorschaus. Vermutlich zuwenig Speicher. Kein Swap und es wird mit Xandros nur 1 GB meiner 2 GB-RAM genutzt. Was gut läuft, ist der TV-Stick von Digittrade. Aber alles in allem ist die Multimedia-Fähigkeit doch bescheiden, schon dass man ein externes DVD rumschleppen soll. – Es ist in Wirklichkeit ein Spielzeug, um Linux kennenzulernen und dann zu merken, dass die meisten Anwendungen, die man raufbekommt auch verzichtbar sind. Für Windows gibt’s da mehr und in besserer Qualität. Fazit: nach dem Spielen kann man das Teil eigentlich nur als größeren Jornada-Ersatz mit open-office, bischen Fotos ansehen und Not-Internetsurfen, wenn grad der Hauptrechner belegt ist, verwenden. Eigentlich muss ich nach einem halben Jahr zeitaufwendiger Beschäftigung mit dem Teil sagen: hätte ich’s bloß nicht gekauft. Jetzt muss ich’s behalten, da man bei ebay nichts mehr für bekommt.

Nein, ich habe ein völlig normales Verhältnis, und bin nicht polarisiert wie andere.
Ich habe XP aus ganz vernünftigen Gründen draufgepackt: ich kann meine normale Entwicklungsumgebung mit XAMPP laufen lassen, ich habe keinerlei Probleme was das Lesen von Daten von meiner externen NTFS-Platte angeht, ich habe meine gewohnten Programme zur Verfügung, kann eigene Batchscripts schreiben und beliebige Hardware anschließen – ohne Treiberprobleme zu haben oder irgendwie den Kernel neu zu kompilieren.
Klar, ich könnte mich auch in eine Linux-Distri einarbeiten – aber XP kann ich doch genauso verwenden. ICh habe wirklich zurzeit kein ein einziges Problem mit XP. Alles läuft glatt, als sei XP dafür gemacht :)

Man muss schon hard drauf sein um Windows auf dem eeePC zu installieren und dann zu meinen das laeuft gut…. Du bist schon ein wenig Sadomaso, oder?
