USA (7) – Abschied … :-(

Mein letzter Post zum USA-Austausch aus den USA … es war eine tolle Zeit!
Doch bevor ich den Emotionen verfalle, noch ein paar Fakten zu den zuletzt verbrachten Aktionen: Am Freitag fuhren wir (also Christian [Aharons Bruder], Raphael Binz, Simon und ich) zunächst zu seinem College in Sacramento. Leider waren alle Gebäude auf dem Campus geschlossen, weil ein Baseballspiel stattfand, sodass wir außer dem Außengelände nichts gesehen haben. Eins ist mir aber aufgefallen – eine Polizeistation direkt am und für das College. Auf meine Nachfrage hin meinte CJ, dass alle Colleges Polizei auf ihrem Gelände stationiert haben … Beim Rausfahren aus dem Campus ist mir das erste Mal bewusst ein Bahngleis aufgefallen – das erste Mal seit 2,5 Wochen Aufenthalt in den USA! (Abgesehen von dem U-Bahn-Verkehr in San Francisco) Danach fuhren wir zum Elektronikmarkt frys – anscheinend der nächste von Galt aus, und eine Dreiviertelstunde auf Highways (= kein so langsames Tempo) ist man dahin unterwegs … Diese ganzen Entfernungen hier sind echt gigantisch! Ich kaufte dort einen Akku für dem Camcorder, doch wie sich später herausstellen sollte, funktionierte die Kamera damit auch nicht. Zum Glück bekommt CJ das Geld wieder zurück. Nach ein bisschen Rumschauen und der Erkenntnis, dass alle Computerartikel in Deutschland mit $ = € abgerechnet werden (und wir so mit immer beschissen werden!) fuhren wir dann zu Wendy’s (eine der vielen Fastfoodketten) und gleich danach zu einer Undergroundrock-Show in einem nahegelegenen Städtchen, die in einer Art Jugendzentrum stattfand. Nunja, mein Musikgeschmack ist das nicht gerade, wobei – “Musik”? In ein Mikrofon schreien ist Musik? Nagut … Da gabs auch jede Menge coole Jungs mit hautquetschenden Hosen – die natürlich unter dem Arsch getragen wurden … ^^ Und bald danach war der Freitag zu Ende.
Am Samstag gingen wir zu einer Familie, die gerade Mal etwa 5 Minuten entfernt wohnte. Der Vater war besonders cool drauf, obwohl (?) er bestimmt schon Mitte 50 bis 60 war. Er ist Leiter einer Scout-Gruppe, also so Art Pfadfinder. Dort konnten wir zunächst Quad fahren (macht Spaaaß! :-)) und uns im Golf spielen probieren. Außerdem spielten wir eine kurze Partie Hufeisenwerfen, wohl ein populärer Sport bei den Senioren hier. Als es dann dunkel wurde, machten wir ein Feuer an und brieten mehrere dicke Stücke Steak. (I guess I never have seen such big exemplars before …) Währenddessen spielten wir ein bisschen Basketball. Nachdem das Fleisch fertig war gingen wir rein, überlegten einen Film zu schauen, aßen das Fleisch sowie Salat und schauten danach die Komödie “Airplane”. (Auf einem “normal” riesigen HD-Fernseher). Zum Schluss spielten wir noch ein Spiel, dessen Name ich jetzt gerade nicht parat habe (man baut aus quaderförmigen Holzstücken einen Turm und versucht möglichst lange unten welche wegzuziehen – verloren hat der, bei dem der Turm einstürzt). Danach gingen nach Hause. War auch ein toller Tag, hat Spaß gemacht dort!
Sonntag hatten wir zunächst vor in die Kirche zu gehen. Wegen den Langschläfern hat das dann aber nicht geklappt. ^^ Am Nachmittag fuhren wir alle zusammen nach Sacramento um das vor 4 Wochen selbstgebraute Bier in Flaschen abzufüllen. Durch einen Fehler des Kellners hatten wir dann auch noch fremdes Bier abgefüllt. Nun, wir (bzw. die Sweatts) können uns nicht beklagen, etwa die 1,5-fache Menge zu haben ist ja nicht schlecht … :D
Gestern (also am Montag) gingen wir zu dritt (Christian [aka CJ], Simon und ich) erneut zur Shopping Mall Arden Fair nach Sacramento. Diesmal mit dem festen Ziel vor Augen, Vans für meine Schwester (und für ihre Freundin) zu kaufen. Diesen Auftrag konnte ich auch erledigen, CJ hat sich außerdem noch einen Gürtel gekauft. Davor gingen wir noch zu Borders (Buchladen), in dem ich meinen Gutschein (über 25$) einlösen konnte. Habe mir das Buch “Head Rush Ajax” (ist, glaub ich, richtig gut) gekauft, für 40$. Als Lunch gingen wir noch zu McDonalds essen.
Und dann heute – der wohl traurigste Tag des gesamten Austauschs für mich. Unsere (zugegeben mittlerweile nicht mehr ganz so tolle) Digitalkamera Sony Cyber-shot DSC600 einfach auf dem Flohmarkt. Geklaut! Dorthin gingen wir nämlich mit der gesamten deutschen Truppe und nicht alles war dort für mich von negativer Natur: ich konnte mir noch eine Tasche für 10$ kaufen, da ich mir bereits dachte, dass ich nicht das gesamte Gepäck in meinen Koffer bekomme. Außerdem konnte ich noch für 3$ ein T-Shirt für meine kleinste Schwester kaufen. Doch dann eben der Schock, kurz nachdem ich das Schulgelände betrat, vom Flohmarkt, Carls Jr. und Save Mart kommend. Ich wollte meine Kamera herausholen und ich merkte gleich, dass etwas nicht stimmte. Sie baumelte nicht an meiner Hose herunter. Und sie war auch nicht in dem Fach vom Rucksack, in dem ich sie vermutete. Ich durchsuchte alle anderen Taschen des Rucksacks – doch: kein Erfolg. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt saß ich mit mehreren anderen zusammen und somit kamen gleich zwei mit, die sich mit auf die Suche machten (Oli und MonaB). Doch – kein Erfolg. Weder bei Carls Jr. noch bei den 3 Flohmarktständen, bei denen ich sie erwartet hatte, noch bei dem Save Mart. Weil die Leute beim Flohmarkt alle nicht so die seriösesten sind, vermute ich sie dort bei irgendeinem Händler (Konkret: beim T-Shirt-Verkäufer) – doch das hilft mir nichts. Ich werde sie nicht mehr zurückbekommen, dachte ich gleich, und an der Vermutung änderte sich den ganzen Tag lang nichts. Und wird es wohl auch nicht mehr. :-( Natürlich ärgerte ich mich den ganzen Tag (und tue es immer noch), aber es hilft ja alles nichts – rund 500 Fotos sind einfach – weg! Den Rest habe ich zum Glück auf meinem anderen MemoryStick und den USB-Sticks, ich habe noch rund 1000. Dennoch. Es ist und bleibt scheiße. – Das war die eine traurige Sache.
Nachdem die Schule dann aber fertig war (wie immer um 3PM), fuhren wir zu fünft (Eltern, Christian, Aharon und ich; Simon war beim Raphael) und aßen bei einem Mexikaner Dinner. Um etwa Viertel vor 5. Na gut … war aber trotzdem lecker. Um 6 Uhr fand dann die große Abschlussparty statt: wie ich es gewohnt war mit “Rockband”, diesmal auf einem rieeesigen Fernseher (geschätzte 70 Zoll) und herumsitzen und plaudern. Tränen waren aber noch keine in Sicht … Um ca. 8 Uhr gingen wir dann nach draußen in die Scheune, wo dann erst so die richtige Party stieg. Oder zumindest der Abschluss *richtig* zelebriert wurde: es wurden große Reden gehalten, bei allen host families bedankt und jeder Beteiligte bekam ein schickes neongrünes T-Shirt mit dem Frontaufdruck “Warrior – G – 2008″ und als Backprint eine Karte Kaliforniens mit den Daten, wo wir wann waren und eine Liste aller Austauschpartner. Das werden wir auch morgen beim Flug zurück nach Deutschland anziehen …
Nun, das war es dann. Es wurden noch Fotos gemacht und sich verabschiedet – aber das war der letzte Abend hier in Kalifornien. Damit geht eine wunderbare Zeit zu Ende, die wir wohl so bald nicht vergessen werden. (Hoffentlich auch wegen eines super Austauschfilms … wobei ich da eher skeptisch bin.) Ich denke, vor allem die Erfahrungen hier werden wir nie vergessen und es war einer der Höhepunkte in unserem bisherigen Leben. Und damit vielleicht auch im gesamten … Auf jeden Fall bedauere ich es sehr, dass wir jetzt schon wieder gehen müssen – die Zeit hier in Galt verging wirklich wie im Fluge! (Wobei nein, der Flug kommt einem länger vor … [sauschlechter Witz. ich weiß.]) Ich wäre auch noch gerne ein, zwei, drei Wochen länger in meiner host family geblieben – und auch in San Francisco, von der Stadt haben wir ja auch noch längst nicht alles gesehen. Die Ausflüge mit unserer deutschen Gruppe haben auch immer Spaß gemacht. (Tiefpunkt war wohl Hwy 49, aber alle anderen waren toll!) Und natürlich werde ich die ganzen Leute hier vermissen! Diese total lebensfrohen, offenen, sympathischen Amis werden mir noch lange im Gedächtnis bleiben. Besonders wenn ich wieder irgendwelche sturen Deutschen sehe, werde ich wohl sofort hier dran denken … Natürlich ist es nicht nur negativ hier wegzugehen. Ich freue mich auch meine Familie und Freunde wiederzusehen. Und wieder einen geregelten Schulalltag zu haben und normale Distanzen zurücklegen zu müssen, die auch mit dem Fahrrad bewältigt werden können.
Aber ab Freitag werde ich erstmal jede Menge Unterrichtsstoff nachholen müssen. Außerdem habe ich mir vorgenommen, in der gesamten nächsten Woche jeden Tag eine Stunde lang Fahrrad zu fahren oder zu laufen, um meine gewonnenen Pfunde wieder loszuwerden und nicht ganz einzurosten.
Morgen werdet ihr hier wohl keinen neuen Blogeintrag finden (ohne Internet bloggt sichs schlecht), aber wohl am Donnerstag oder Freitag schon. Bis dahin, gabriel.
