USA (2) – San Francisco Teil 2

Beim letzten Eintrag hatte ich ja nicht wirklcih viel Zeit (warum? ich saß in keinem Internet-Café oso sondern habe es schamlos ausgenutzt, dass in einem Computerladen in SF ein Laptop rumstand, dass Internetanschluss besaß .. hehe :P) und deswegen möchte ich euch jetzt ein bisschen mehr über die letzten 3 Tage erzählen.
Fangen wir am Donnerstag an: um 14:00 flogen wir in Frankfurt los, und ließen uns auf 11,5 Stunden lang in einem Flugzeug eingeengt zu sitzen ein.Okay, das ist übertrieben, wir konnten ja auch austehen. Aber dennoch – unser Tag war 9 Stunden länger als normal. Ich persönlich habe einiges an Zeit mit schlafen verbracht, ansonsten bin ich auf dem Sitz gesessen und habe nachgedacht über alles Mögliche, habe Bilder gemacht (siehe unten, das zweite zeigt Eis, dass wir gesehen haben, als wir über Kanada geflogen sind – sah toll aus!) und mich unterhalten.
Als wir in San Francisco ankamen, war das Wetter nicht das beste (auch während dem Flug haben wir nicht viel von der Landschaft gesehen, da meistens eine dicke graue Decke dazwischen lag, leider …). Es hat geregnet. Nicht der optimale Einstieg in eine Stadt wie San Francisco … Zum Glück war unser erster Eindruck ziemlich falsch, wie wir am nächsten Tag feststellen durften, aber dazu später mehr. Nach dem langwierigen Auschecken und Passieren der verschiedenen Sicherheitskontrollen (was nicht wirklich reibungslos verlief: es wurde von einem Beamten und dessen treuen Gehilfe – nämlich einem Hund – noch dieverse Lebensmittel in verschiedenen Rucksäcken gefunden). Kurz danach fanden wir uns in einem etwas heruntergekommenen aber voll beleuchteten Teil San Franciscos wieder (nachdem wir mit der U-Bahn BART eine Viertelstunde lang unterwegs waren) und bezogen bald unsere Zimmer: 5 Vierer- und ein Zweierzimmer waren zu belegen. Zum Abschluss des Tages gingen wir noch Essen. Weil wir von den horrenden Preisen in einer Burgerbude abgeschreckt waren, gingen wir in eine Pizzeria direkt im Haus. Wegen kommunikativer Missverständnisse (ich liebe diesen Ausdruck :D) hatten wir am Schluss etwa 2 Pizzen zu viel … Ich habe vernünftigerweise nur ein “Slice” (also ein Stück einer bereits fertigen Pizza) bestellt, einige Mädels – aber auch Jungs – haben sich aber etwas übernommen und”etwas” zu große Pizzen bestellt … naja … ^^
Danach gingen wir alle ins Bett. Spätestens um 10 war jeder eingeschlafen.
… und wachte in der Nacht mehrmals auf. Der eine ist um 24:00 aufgewacht und konnte nicht mehr richtig schlafen, der andere wachte alle 20 Minuten auf und wieder andere konnten ab 3:00 Uhr nicht mehr schlafen. Ich persönlich hatte mit dem Jetlag kaum Probleme: schlafen konnte ich bis um halb acht.
Am nächsten Tag (Freitag) stand dann die Besichtigung San Franciscos auf dem Programm. Zuerst gingen wir durch die Straßen des Financial District, bestaunten die Hochhäuser von außen (ein Hotel auch von innen) und erlebten den speziellen, einzigartigen Flair der Stadt. Danach gingen wir an die Piers, aßen dort schnell was “auf die Hand”, stiegen in eine Straßenbahn ein und fuhren bis zum anderen Ende der Piers. Dort liefen wir ein paar hundert Meter (und ein paar hundert Stufen …) nach oben und landeten schließlich am Fuße des Coit Towers. Diesen 65 Meter hohen Turm bestiegen wir dann. Scherz. Es gab bequemerweise einen Aufzug :-) Von dort oben hatte man dann einen super Ausblick auf die gesamte Stadt und sah sogar die Golden Gate Bridge.

Danach fuhren wir mit einem sehr ruckelndem, alten Bus wieder herunter zu den Piers und konnten uns in Kleingruppen die Zeit am – sehr Touristik-orientierten – Pier 39 vertreiben.
Nachdem wir uns dort umgesehen hatten, fuhren wir mit einem CableCar (macht wahnsinnig viel Spaß da draußen dranzuhängen :))) nach Chinatown und aßen dort zu Abend. (Die Portionen in dem Restauran waren der Hammer! Vielleicht auch typisch amerikanisch … ?)
